Why Mangocashews
The Short Answer
The Creation
It's a play on my real name (in an embarrassingly roundabout way).
The Change
For those of you who've been following me since the beginning, "Lillian Cloud" was my initial pen name. At ten years old, I had this weird obsession with the letter "L" -- not just because it was the name of one of the first anime characters I wrote for, but also because it was, to me, the prettiest letter of the alphabet. And I was absolutely gutted that I didn't have even one in my name. So, being able to choose an alias with three was like having chosen the holy grail of names.
As I got older, I realized having a pretty name really didn't mean anything in the creative world. Having a unique name? That was where and what you wanted to be. Accessible and unique. Much to my chagrin, a quick google search revealed that Lillian Cloud was actually a really common name. So I thought, okay, time for a new alias.
My initials are CSW, so naturally, I thought cashews. Mango is a play on my last name (invert the M and it becomes a W). But Cashews Mango was already taken on twitter, so, reverse the order, and badda bing badda boom you get Mango Cashews. Anti-climatic I know. But that's the story. And here we are. Hopefully, it's a name I can grow into.
